Dr. Fernández to Carry Out a Packed 10-day Agenda in New York this Week

On Monday the former Dominican Republic president and current head of the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), Dr. Leonel Fernández, begins a 10-day visit to the United States, where he will carry out a broad agenda of commitments with various institutions in New York City.
A release distributed by journalist Annia Valdez, Fernández’s press officer, explains that as part of his New York agenda, the former head of state will
participate in the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), where he will share the platform with personalities including former president Bill Clinton, US Secretary of State John Kerry, Argentine president Mauricio Macri, Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi, and London mayor Sadiq Khan.
The Dominican intellectual and statesman will also hold work meetings with Gordon Brown, UN Special Envoy for Global Education, and Alistair Edgar, executive director of the
Academic Council of the United Nations System, as well as with executives of the New York Institute of Technology, representatives of the Democratic Party, and directors of Dominican professional organizations.
He will likewise participate in the International Conference on Sustainable Development, organized by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), and the 7th Annual International Cybersecurity Conference, as well as attend the debate between Democratic
presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and her Republican counterpart Donald Trump, to be held September 26 at Hofstra University, Long Island.
While in New York, Fernández, who also heads the Dominican Liberation Party, will present the Dominican Republic 2044 (RD2044) initiative, a 30-year infrastructure development plan for the country’s 32 provinces to mark the celebration of the nation’s Bicentenary.
Finally, the Funglode
president will lead the opening of the golf tournament organized each year by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Funglode’s sister organization in the United States.
