Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) attends the 2015 IMF-WB Spring Meetings and Civil Society Organization gatherings in Washington, D.C.

Each spring, thousands of government officials, journalists, civil society organizations, and invited participants from the academia and private sectors, gather in Washington DC for the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This year, the
WBG and IMF Civil Society Teams hosted in Washington, D.C. a bi-annual Civil Society Program (CSP), April 14-17, 2015, and the Spring Meetings events, April 17-19.

GFDD’s Executive Director Natasha Despotovic said, “We believe in a proactive role
of civil society. It is part of our institutional effort and commitment to be part of these meetings each year”.

At the heart of the gatherings are panel discussions, forums, seminars, regional briefings, and workshops addressing progress and challenges on the global economy, international development, and the world’s financial markets. Other topics include issues related to poverty reduction, inequality and climate change. The meetings aim to promote
substantive dialogue and an exchange of views between World Bank and IMF staff, civil society representatives, government officials, academics, and other stakeholders.
