Celebrating the Iberoamerican Artistic Heritage in Washington, D.C.

With a welcoming reception on November 12, 2014, held at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C., the embassies from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Perú, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela, in collaboration with the Iberoamerican Cultural Attachés Association (AACIA) and Fotoweek DC, inaugurated the photographic exhibition "Contemporary
Identities/Invisible Gestures". The exhibit, that is open to the public until January 31st, 2015, showcases the immense cultural diversity of Iberoamerica through the art of photography.

Mr. Eduardo Medina Mora Icaz, Ambassador of Mexico to the United States, gave the opening remarks and officially inaugurated the exhibit, which
features work from artists from 18 countries of Latin America, Portugal and Spain, and is centered on the relationship between identity and the self in a digital world. Participating artists include Alexis Mandujano, Ana Adarve, Ana de Orbegoso, Carlos Cánovas, César Quijada, Esteban García Obando, Fernando Carrera, Ilana Liechtenstein, José Rui Moreira Correia, José Luís Neto, Luis Chay, Mary Rosa Jiménez (from Dominican Republic), Muriel Hasbun, Raúl Cañibano, Ricardo Migliorisi,
Ricardo Rivera, Roberto Fernández Ibáñez, Roxana Nagygeller, Susana Carrié, and Yamina del Real.

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) joined this celebration of Iberoamerican artistic heritage, as part of its commitment to promoting collaboration and exchange between the Dominican Republic, the Western Hemisphere and the United States.
