FUNGLODE signs cooperation agreement with an organization chaired by former Spanish judge Baltasar Garzón

Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) signed a framework agreement for interagency cooperation with Fundación Internacional Baltasar Garzón (FIBGAR), on Saturday, for the development of activities involving studies, research and training in the field of social and legal sciences.

The agreement was signed by the former President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández, representing FUNGLODE, and former Spanish judge Baltasar Garzón, on
behalf of the FIBGAR.

The agreement includes various forms of cooperation, such as the joint organization of courses, workshops, roundtables, non-formal education programs, continuing education programs, training courses, specialization courses, and master”s and doctorate programs, among others.

Also included in the agreement is the organization of training programs in the face-to-face and virtual modalities, the sharing of information and content, the
joint undertaking of all types of publications, the development of research and consulting projects, as well as the possible allocation of technical and financial support to the research and training projects carried out by the parties.

In addition, it includes the exchange of teachers, researchers and students; the promotion, among its members, partners or allies, of the activities that the parties specify under the terms of this agreement; all activities that are
directly or indirectly associated with the corporate purpose of one or both parties to the agreement, and cooperation between the libraries of the two organizations.

The agreement will remain in force for five years. Notwithstanding, either party may terminate this agreement by giving the other party advance written notice with a minimum of ninety days, and provided that the party who seeks to end it completes or fulfills any outstanding commitments.

The document declares that "The parties may agree to extend this agreement by exchanging written communications to that effect, signed by the legal representatives of each of the parties, before the deadline specified in this clause".

FIBGAR is a non-profit organization that is built on the pillars of solidarity, the promotion of human rights, cooperation for the development of the peoples, mediation and the fight against impunity.

In this regard, the organization promotes programs that allow it to work in the areas of education, justice, society, politics and culture which defend and apply human rights, justice and reparation, and to prosecute corruption and organized crime in any of its forms.
