DREFF Audience Award Winner Officially Recognized at GFDD office in New York

As a follow up to the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), GFDD is honored to be able to give a recognition prize to Director, Kip Pastor, and his film In organic We Trust, as the official 2012 Audience Award Winner. The documentary film came out as top pick out of DREFF 2012’s diverse selection of 24 acclaimed films – 13 featured films, 6 short films, 3 Dominican productions and 2 retrospectives.

In Organic We Trust is the eye-opening food documentary that follows Director/Producer Kip on a personal journey to answer commonly asked questions about organic food: what exactly is organic? is it really better or just a marketing scam? The film takes a balanced approach to clear up misconceptions about organic food while highlighting practical solutions that are transforming the way we grow and eat.

Kip Pastor received the prize, a small glass hummingbird bird, and overarching symbol of the DREFF. GDFF’s Executive Director, Natasha Despotovic, heartily congratulated Kip on the award and welcomed him to participate in the DREFF 2013. Mr. Pastor was overtly very happy to receive the prize and said it was an invaluable experience to come to the DR for the Festival. “I met great people in the Dominican Republic, added the guest. I remember I filmed two
secondary schools there, and it was emotionally very touching to see the commitment of the school staff and kids to my film art.”

The Audience Awards are special acknowledgements, as they reflect the preferences and interests of our audience members. DREFF congratulates all the winners for earning this important recognition.
