Global Foundation for Democracy and Development will Host Second Golf Tournament in New York

September 19, 2012

On Monday, October 1, 2012, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will host its 2nd GFDD Golf Tournament on the picturesque grounds of the Fresh Meadow Country Club, located in Flushing, Queens. The benefit will help support the numerous projects and programs realized by the Foundation, which seek to foster social, economic and democratic development in the Dominican Republic.

The 2012 GFDD Golf Tournament will follow in the tradition of
COPA FUNGLODE, the annual fundraising event of GFDD’s sister institution in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE). Like COPA FUNGLODE in the Dominican Republic, the GFDD Golf Tournament will provide opportunities to high-ranking officials, business executives, industry leaders and celebrities.

Registered guests will compete on the lush greens of the historic Fresh
Meadow Country Club. Established in 1923, Fresh Meadow Country Club is a parkland course. The club is famous for its forested terrain, elevated tees and spectacular vistas.

The 2012 Tournament will feature the participation of former President of the Dominican Republic and President of GFDD and FUNGLODE, Dr. Leonel Fernández, along with former Major League Baseball Player, Mr. Juan Marichal.
